Primary Research-
Investigation with exploratory questions-
Is there something that people wished existed or worked that currently doesn't?
-one app that has all of my fantasy football teams with personalized recommendations on what to do based on who I have on my team.
-a way to get educated on who and what to vote for without having to watch painful political commercials to tell me who the candidates are.
Trying to find a niche to work within. I want to know what every day problems do people experience that could be improved. Here are the responses I got when asking people what problems they currently have in their lives.
-I know not to use straws at restaurants to save the turtles but I don't really recycle at home because I don't really know what I can recycle. I have recycling options at my apartment complex I just don't do it. Doesn't it all go to the same place in CO anyways? Someone gets paid to sort it later so does it really matter?
-I drive 10 minutes further away from my house to go to a larger, less used grocery store because the one that's closest always leaves me in a bad mood when I go even though it's more convenient.
-I struggle with balancing work, school, home, family and church life right now.
-I am looking to buy a house but my lease is up on my apartment and I don't think I can find a house in time before I would have to give my complex a notice of intent to renew or cancel. I feel like I either have to spend lots of money on rent to be able to break my lease when I find the perfect house or I have to settle on what house to buy based on when my lease is up. I can't control to market though, I don't know when my perfect house will be for sale. It's very frustrating.
-I know I can afford a house mortgage which I'd rather be paying for than rent at an apartment, but I'm not sure how much I can actually afford without a mortgage company spamming me with emails and phone calls.
-I am graduating next year and I have to start paying for my student loans that I've accrued for the past 4 years. I'm freaking out about it. Should I refinance them?
-I have a very restrictive diet and usually bring my own food to events because there aren't many if any places that I can eat.
-destruction of parks
-dog or animal skype/ animal-computer interaction (dogs can see blue and yellow)
- volunteer app for shelters/ emotional freedom techniques
-air bnb with external device for homeless people (i need a shower, someone lets them, device connects them) general public app for to help homeless
-tech collar, door and camera system wired to let dog in and out of house
-animal shelter revamp - actual house setting, change the environment
-how to make relationships between companies and non profits.
-connecting foster children and shelters together
-app for foster care children

What already exists in the market? Do these people know if there is a solution to their problem?
Fantasy Football - Footballguys Draft Dominator, Yahoo Fantasy Sports, ESPN
Voting Platforms - https://leg.colorado.gov/publications/2018-blue-book-english
Recycling Education - recycle nation, irecycle
Grocery Stores - king soopers app; scan bag go, walmart, safeway app, amazon fresh, hello fresh,
Time management - Evernote, apple reminders, mylifeorganized
Home buyers - redfin, zillow, trulia,
Money management - mint
Restaurants - yelp, eat 24, urbanspoon.
What makes the existing solution not successful?
Fantasy Football - There are apps that have features that give suggestions on who to pick but they cost money. There is no free version. You either have to guess or watch sports news and make an educated pick.
Voting Platforms - Currently you can mail in a ballot or go vote in person but that's not a problem I want to deal with. What people similar in age to me, 20-35 said is that they don't even know what is on the ballot. They see commercials for causes and see friend's post articles on social media, but they don't know. They also haven't gotten their Colorado blue book. How can they get educated about everything that is on their ballot in a more efficient way that will help educate the viewer at their convenience?
Recycling Education - Operation Warm is a project that is set out to give coats to children in need. They try to inspire children about this new product that is a coat made entirely out of recycled water bottles. Through inspiration and education, they hope to teach children the importance of recycling.

Rareform is a company that takes bill boards and uses the artwork to decorate bags and backpacks. While backpacks are a large part of the school industry, children probably aren't inclined to pick one of these. These backpacks could be used at a higher level of education however such as college.

Grocery Stores - many companies have tried to change the way the average american does their grocery shopping. We have subscription meal companies like Hello Fresh that deliver to your door ready to make meals, we have Amazon Fresh, Walmart Pick Up Groceries, King soopers and Target do pick ups now. King Soopers has Scan Bag and go to make the trip as efficient as possible. Many companies have tried tackling the issue of inconvenient grocery shopping. I feel like this project has too large of a scope for one student to tackle.

If there's a market for your idea, how will you make your product visible to that market versus the leading competitors?
